Abstract

El otro 98: las reformas en el campo educativo  

Between 1900 and 1902 Spain greatly improved education and teaching, through the influence  of the ideas of the regeracionistas and because of Costa’s political campaign launched in 1899. The article studies these activities, at first by the Silvela’s Conservative government, and then by the Sagasta’s Liberal one, through thei respective Ministers, García Alaix and Count Romanones. The institution in 1900 of the Ministry of Public Education and the corresponding legislation greatly enhanced the educational policy of the State.
